Despite having a cast of incredible up-and-coming actors, including Miles Teller, Jamie Bell, Michael B Jordan, and Kate Mara, Fantastic Four was a Fantastic Flop, panned by critics and plummeting at the box-office.

It was well known Josh Trank was having huge production issues, with the director infamously Tweeting out before the film’s release that it was not his film.

Doctor Doom actor Toby Kebell has since detailed how there’s a much better cut of the film out there, but we will never get to see it.

“I tell you, the honest truth is [Trank] did cut a great film that you’ll never see”, he told The Daily Beast. “That is a shame. A much darker version, and you’ll never see it”.

The actor, currently promoting Warcraft, added that he never got to play Doom properly as another actor played the Marvel villain on numerous occasions.

“Unfortunately. I played Doom in three points: walking down a corridor, killing the doctor and getting into the time machine, and lying on the bench. They were the only times I played Doom. Everything else was some other guy, on some other day… doing some other thing. I was infuriated that he was allowed to limp like that!”

Fingers crossed Trank’s cut somehow leaks onto the internet at some stage. While speaking to The Independent, Kebbell recently spoke about his role in the upcoming Ben-Hur remake, detailing whether – like in the 1959 film – it would have homosexual overtones.

In the mid-credits scene for Fast & Furious 6, it was revealed that Han’s demise was planned by Jason Statham’s character, Deckard Shaw, which led to the “Justice For Han” fan campaign. During F9Han was brought back to life and Kang will be playing him once again in Fast X. Franchise star Vin Diesel has been sharing updates from the new production, and his recent post is a tribute to Kang’s franchise journey.

“Weekends are usually dedicated to mythology building, not unlike mapping out a D&D campaign. Haha. But, as I took a moment to reflect on this past week of filming I came across this image. For some reason, it made me very nostalgic… not because it was her who was the first and loudest voice championing the return of Han for Fast 9… but because it was Samantha who invited Sung to be in Los Bandoleros… a film most of you might haven’t seen that attempts to bridge Fast 1 and Fast 4… She called him and said the studio wanted me to direct the short film but that there was no money for any of us actors. He first said let me talk to the reps, and then called back and said of course he would fly to the Dominican Republic for a week to film… after all he was inspired to continue as an actor because of a short film I directed many years ago called Multifacial. Sung has always been a important player in this mythology, to see him on set in 2022 makes my soul smile,” Diesel wrote. You can check out his post below:

Last year, Kang spoke with ComicBook.com and was asked if Han will be getting his revenge on Shaw.

“Well, I mean, all kidding aside, Han has lost his love and there’s revenge from his side. He needs that. But the question is, how does a person or a man like Han enact his revenge? Is it by force or is it psychological? Is it emotional? What is it? I think that’s what I’m looking for to is how is that face-off approached? Is it traditional?,” Kang shared.

“Because I don’t think one-on-one that he’s going to take Deckard Shaw. I mean, Deckard Shaw is Jason Statham. He knows martial arts. Han doesn’t. He knows no martial arts. I know for a fact, because Sung Kang knows no martial arts. If I know no martial arts, Han knows no martial arts. Han’s a lover. He’s not the fighter. So let’s see, let’s see,” he added.

Fast and Furious 10 is scheduled to drop in theaters on May 19, 2023.

The three “Star Wars” prequels that George Lucas made at the dawn of the 21st century conquered the box office, grossing more than $2 billion worldwide. But the prequel trilogy was less successful by other metrics. The critics were harsh — and legions of fans reared on the original space opera were especially despondent.

Ewan McGregor, the Scottish actor who played a young Obi-Wan Kenobi in the films, remembers the mixed signals all too well.

“It was one of the difficult things about being in the prequels,” he said at a virtual media event Thursday. “When they came out, they were not seemingly well received.”

In time, however, McGregor discovered what might be characterized as a vibe shift around the movies. He encountered millennials — people who were just kids when the prequels rolled out in the late 1990s and the early 2000s — who felt immense nostalgia for the tales of Padmé Amidala, Darth Maul and even Jar Jar Binks.

“I became more aware of the fondness that the generation that we made the prequels for has for those films,” McGregor said, later adding: “They couldn’t understand why I thought that they weren’t liked when they came out, you know? It meant a lot to me.”

Seventeen years after the theatrical debut of the third prequel, McGregor is back in dusty Jedi Master robes in “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” a six-episode miniseries that debuts May 27 on Disney+. (McGregor, also known for his roles in “Moulin Rouge!” and “Trainspotting,” is one of the show’s executive producers.)

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is the third Disney+ original series set in the sprawling “Star Wars” universe, following in the footsteps of “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett,” two spaghetti Western-style adventures following the interplanetary exploits of masked bounty hunters and their compatriots.

McGregor, 51, described his road back to Tatooine as a “long, slow process.” He recalled that, for years, fans and reporters alike asked him whether he would ever reprise the role. He eventually started saying yes, and gradually with greater enthusiasm about the idea.

Walt Disney Studios, the owner of Lucasfilm and steward of the “Star Wars” franchise, evidently took notice.

“Disney asked me to come in one day for a meeting because they kept seeing on social media that I was saying I would like to play Obi-Wan Kenobi again. It looked like I was touting for work at Disney’s door,” McGregor joked.

McGregor said he felt strongly that the series needed to help fill in the narrative blanks between the third prequel, “Revenge of the Sith,” and the original “Star Wars” movie, retroactively titled “A New Hope.” In this phase of the “Star Wars” timeline, Obi-Wan is exiled on Tatooine, where he quietly keeps an eye on infant Luke and Leia.

Deborah Chow, who directed two episodes of “The Mandalorian,” helmed all six installments of “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” She saw the series as Lucasfilm’s answer to movies like Todd Philips’ “Joker” or James Mangold’s “Logan” — a chance to focus more narrowly on a character who is usually part of a wider franchise ensemble.

“I think, first and foremost, I was most excited about doing a character-driven story,” Chow said Thursday, adding that she was also fond of the moody visual style of “Rogue One,” a “Star Wars” spinoff film released in 2016.

‘He’s lost his faith’

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” marks the return of at least one other familiar face from the prequels: Hayden Christensen, who played a young Anakin Skywalker, the headstrong Jedi who is lured to the dark side and — spoiler alert, for the uninitiated — transforms into the intergalactic tyrant Darth Vader.

“We were close,” McGregor said of his relationship with Christensen while they were shooting the films. “But over the years, we slightly lost touch. … When we were acting together again, it was really like a time warp, and looking across at him on set [it] was like the last 17 years didn’t happen.”

But the series also introduces new characters, including a lightsaber-wielding villain (an Inquisitor, in Lucasfilm parlance) named Reva Sevander, played by Moses Ingram, an Emmy-nominated actor who scored her breakout role on Netflix’s “The Queen’s Gambit.”

When Ingram read a version of the “Obi-Wan” script, she was not even aware it was a “Star Wars” project, recalling that names and other telltale details were strategically withheld during the audition process. But she was drawn to the script’s “edgy” feel — and when she later learned about the “Star Wars” link, “I couldn’t say no.”

Lucasfilm did not share episodes of the series with the news media ahead of the May 27 premiere, and plot specifics have been kept tightly under wraps. McGregor, however, described what he saw as Obi-Wan’s disillusioned frame of mind at the start of the miniseries, which picks up 10 years after the events of “Revenge of the Sith.”

“He can’t communicate with any of his old comrades, and he’s living a pretty solitary life,” McGregor said. “He’s not able to use the Force, so in a way he’s lost his faith. It’s like somebody who stepped away from their religion, if you like, and the only responsibility to his past life is looking over Luke Skywalker.”

For McGregor, the experience of making “Obi-Wan Kenobi” deepened his faith in a generation-spanning franchise he has adored since he was a little boy. In the scripts, for example, he could sense the presence of Alec Guinness, the distinguished British actor who played the character in the original film.

“I think the writing was so, so good in this,” he said, “because right from the word ‘go,’ all of his dialogue felt like it could have been Alec Guinness saying it. Then I knew we were on the right path.”

The Oscar winner award in a green Alexander McQueen suit

Under a starry Cannes night, during the renowned film festival Kering honored American Golden Globe and Academy Award winner Viola Davis for their Women In Motion award. It’s Davis’ we-have-to-do-something about inclusion in film that got her noticed. Diversity for people of color is number one for the actress who is a champion for producer, writer, and director opportunities for minorities. Also, in attendance was François-Henri Pinault, the Chairman and CEO of Kering, Pierre Lescure, President of the Festival de Cannes and Thierry Frémaux, Executive Director of the Festival de Cannes, Italian model and former French First Lady Carla Bruni,

With the First Lady actress was her husband Julius Tennon. Wearing a Alexander McQueen high lime and muted highlighter green pants suit, Davis garnered the attention of the audience. And speaking directly with the actress she beamed at the opportunity to talk about JuVee Productions that she started with her husband.

Speaking of the award: “It means an acknowledgement of my legacy, which is what I want to shift the narrative of women of color to. It’s no longer acceptable for us to be defined by men, defined by any other structure other than ourselves, and it became obvious to me as I was progression in my career that I had to be the change that I wanted to see, and that why we started this. I want to see black women for the beautiful complicated beings that they are.”

As Pinault opened the evening, he spoke of the importance of women in film and highlighting their accomplishments. Quoting from writer Toni Morrison, the multinational corporation head of luxury good stated: “I dream a dream that dreams back at me. Viola Davis is the embodiment of this vision.”

Davis has been in the city for a week now speaking about her journey in acting but also about the production company that she and her husband stared. As the room was lit with candles Davis shared, “as a little chocolate girl that grew up in Central Falls, Rhode Island in abject poverty, with a certain level of poverty, I always wanted my life to matter. I wanted to leave this earth with a big fat hole in it and I felt the way to do that was to become an actress, but now that I’ve progressed in my career, what I’ve realized is that I want to elevate storytelling for people of color.”

Getting a round of applause Davis recalled how Cicely Tyson inspired her. “It’s just as impactful when I don’t see us, but I see us when when we are bus drivers- or women who live in challenging communities and have only one or two scenes in a movie, or women who become yet another best friend to our white women counterparts. I know that I know that I know we are human beings and that we are very complicated, and the power of art is that it knows no color. Because human beings, when they sit and watch art they want to feel less alone. And I want to play a part in making them feel that way.”

For anyone that knows Davis red carpet fashions, you know she often spotted in Alexander McQueen. Last year for the Oscars she wore a white gown from the house, and for the Top Gun: Maverick premier during the Cannes Film Festival, Davis wore a yellow Alexander McQueen number. “So as much as I love my Alexander McQueen, and I love Alexander McQueen, and the fabulous make up, I’m always so moved when people tell me that my work or my life meant something to them.”

In her recently autobiography, Finding Me, Davis talks about the not so fun parts of her childhood. Written during lockdown, it’s quickly became a New York Times #1 bestseller. And she’s now staring in Showtimes, The First Lady series, playing Michelle Obama.

The “If I Stay” actress arrived at the studios ahead of her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” She prepared for the festive season in glitz and glam-inspired ensemble.  On top, the 24-year-old fashioned a black blazer into a stylish top. The jacket featured long sleeves as well as a plunging neckline and was buttoned up. The focal point of her ensemble was her silver sequin trousers. Her bootcut pants were lined with sparkly detailing. She let the vibrant ensemble speak for itself and kept it simple with accessories. She carried a black leather bag that featured a gold chain strap at its top.

For footwear, Moretz opted for something more subtle. The black shoes featured a pointed toe that matched her blazer.

The actress has been on the press rotation for her upcoming film “Mother/Android.” The sci-fi film follows Moretz as Georgia, who escapes her home, which is caught in a war with artificial intelligence. She travels to safety with her boyfriend Sam just days ahead of the arrival of their first child.

Sequins have been a celeb favorite this red carpet season. Fashion-forward stars such as Reese Witherspoon, Lori Harvey and Saweetie have been seen adding glitz and glam to their ensembles with a little extra sparkle.

When it comes to Moretz’s on-the-clock style, the actress is no stranger to classy blazers, suit and sets and is often seen sporting her go-to brand Louis Vuitton. However, in her day-to-day looks, she opts for a more casual aesthetic and favors jeans and sneakers from brands like Converse.

Friday the 13th (1980) wasn’t meant to give birth to a franchise, but it did, and after 12 movies, it’s obvious the fear factor has dwindled. The series has never had the reputation of being as scary as The Exorcist or Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacrebut there are still a few installments that not only try to instill fear, but succeed as well.

Most of the franchise’s effective entries came in the beginning, from Mrs. Voorhees’ reign of terror to her son’s death in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapterbut some later installments tried to be scary as well.

12 Jason X (2001)

Uber Jason in the virtual reality version of Camp Crystal Lake in Jason X

Jim Isaac’s Jason X was marketed as a horror film, but it barely qualifies as one. Like other later installments, it’s more focused on upping the creativity of the kills than it is building any sort of tension, but at least the liquid nitrogen kill is an all-timer.

RELATED: Every Jason Voorhees, Ranked By Scariness

Regardless, Jason X goes for cheeky and lame humor too much that it cannot be considered an effective horror film and, while the Space Marines hunting Jason action scene is fun, it too distracts from X being part of a long-running horror franchise meant to give audiences scares.

11 Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)

Jason Voorhees admiring Times Square in Friday The 13th Part VIII Jason Takes Manhattan

Any fear the Friday the 13th franchise has instilled in audiences is due to a build. A killer hides behind trees and watches as counselors chit-chat, fully unaware that their day can, and will, very swiftly become much worse.

Something is lost when Jason walks through a poor-looking Manhattan and he yanks up his mask to show his grotesque face. It feels as if Jason stops looking scary once this happens as it makes him look more like a cartoony-Halloween villain rather than a dangerous supernatural entity.

10 Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986)

Jason Voorhees resurrected as a zombie in a rainy cemetery in Friday The 13th Part VI Jason Lives

Tom Holland’s Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives is a smart film. Ahead of its time and occasionally funny in a genuine way, the movie still doesn’t try to be scary, even if it is objectively good.

RELATED: 10 Lost Friday The 13th Sequels  (And Reboots) That Were Never Made

Some would argue it’s the best installment of the franchise, and it does stay somewhat in line with what has been established. However, there’s too much of a focus on self-awareness for Jason Lives to truly function as a horror piece.

9 Freddy Vs. Jason (2003)

Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees fighting in Freddy vs Jason

If Freddy vs. Jason has anything going for it, it’s the much-promised, titular final fight. But that ends up being a great scene in an otherwise weak movie and shows that the slasher mash-up was destined more for the action genre than it was straight horror.

Freddy Krueger had started dispensing one-liners five installments before, and that was to be expected, but the film brought in its own brand of humor, as well (namely sex jokes and a ‘stoner’ character straight from Jay & Silent Bob).

8 Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988)

Behind The Scenes Shot Of Jason Voorhees Wielding An Ax - Friday The 13th Part VII The New Blood

It may contain one of the most shocking twists in the Friday the 13th movies, but Part VII: The New Blood is the most compromised of Paramount’s eight installments of the franchise.

The MPAA butchered the film, effectively excising every ounce of impact from each kill to appease the groups who thought Friday the 13th was the bane of ethics and the worst thing cinema could push at audiences. Even still, the film’s very zombified Jason is a treat.

7 Friday The 13th Part V: A New Beginning (1985)

friday the 13th part 5 hallucination jason

Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning tried to go back to basics by throwing a twist ending at the audience. However, instead of Jason’s mother, it’s an ambulance driver named Roy who looks at the camera menacingly once and is then more or less disposed of by the narrative.

The twist aspect of A New Beginning makes the villain seem like less of a threat, even if his body count ranks among Jason’s most bloodily lucrative adventures.

6 Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (1993)

Jessica stabs Jason in Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday

Jump scares are the lowest common denominator tactic in horror, but Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday has a pretty terrific one in the first 10 minutes.

A woman enters a dark cabin, looks around, and takes a shower. It’s a basic Friday the 13th opening scene set-up…but it ends up being a set-up in a completely different way. She’s an FBI agent, and Jason’s been caught. Before he’s caught, however, he startles both the agent and the audience by popping up to her left as she stands atop a staircase. Nothing about the scare is more or less original than any other jump scare, but it showed an appreciation for timing that the remainder couldn’t match once it became about body swapping.

5 Friday The 13th (2009)

Jason grabs a young man from the back

Like other horror films from the Platinum Dunes era, Marcus Nispel’s Friday the 13th is overly-reliant on jump scares, but the still-most-recent installment added something new to a formula it otherwise adhered to rigidly. Namely, Jason has the capacity and willingness to kidnap.

An extension of Ginny Field donning Mrs. Voorhees’ sweater in Friday the 13th Part IIJason has kept Whitney hostage because she happens to resemble his mother. The fear for her safety looms large over the film, which still starts high with an opening so brutal and visceral that the remainder of the film never quite matches its impact.

4 Friday The 13th Part II (1981)

Friday The 13th Part 2 Jason Burlap Sack With Axe

In terms of the fear factor, Friday the 13th Part II follows the law of diminishing returns. Its style, tone, and even the characters all mostly adhere to the original film.

RELATED: 10 Highest-Grossing ’80s Slasher Movies (According To Box Office Mojo)

The first of Steve Miner’s two Friday the 13th movies in the director’s chair, Part II is less bloody than the original because the MPAA cut it almost to the extent of The New Blood. However, Scream Factory’s franchise collection included some of the thought-lost footage as a bonus feature, including one of Part II‘s scariest scenes.

3 Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)

Like the original film, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter is one of the best movies with Tom Savini’s FX.

It’s also the last installment of the franchise to truly feel like Friday the 13thand many make the argument that it’s the best of the series. It’s certainly the most well-constructed and well-written, but it also brings the scares. An example is the death of Judi Aronson’s Sam. She lazes on a raft in the middle of a moonlit Crystal Lake. The viewer knows her time is coming (the first of the film’s main teens to die), but The Final Chapter understands pacing for scares, and Jason’s leap from the water is always a shock.

2 Friday The 13th (1980)

The best film of the franchise isn’t always the scariest, and while this applies to the Friday the 13th franchise, the impact of the critically-lambasted film cannot be overstated.

From the echoing screeches on the soundtrack and the underrated acting talent of the cast to the memorable cinematography and beautiful closing melody as Alice is attacked on the iconic Crystal Lake, everything about Friday the 13th clicks from beginning to end. Some fans would argue that it spends too much time showing mundane activities (Alice making tea being an example), but all of F13‘s little moments make the film’s characters all seem like real people, which goes a long way towards making the film a classic.

1 Friday The 13th Part III (1982)

Jason stalking his next victim

Friday the 13th Part III suffers from a gimmicky style capitalizing on 1980s audiences’ resurgence of interest in 3D. However, it was the trendsetter for the decade’s horror movies presented in that format, and its quality is undoubtedly higher than the following year’s Jaws 3 and Amityville 3-D.

Of the first four classic Friday the 13th films, Part III is typically seen as the weakest. However, it’s also the scariest, benefitting from a grimmer tone, especially nasty kills, and a beneficial cheap look that comes with aged 3D technology and modest budgets. Furthermore, Part III was the closest Jason ever came to showing personality, e.g. when he’s noticeably agitated while throwing boxes and tools in the barn. Part III also makes Jason a sadist, such as when he pulls up his mask and grins at Chris Higgins.

When Ellen Degeneres sat down with Harrison Ford in February of 2020, the talk show host was eager to learn about Ford’s secrets for looking so amazing in his 70s.

“You look good. You look really good,” said Degeneres, followed by a roaring applause from the studio audience. Ford joked with Degeneres, saying, “Well thank you. What did I look like before?”

When she asked him what he’s been doing to stay healthy, Ford replied, “[I’m doing] practically nothing. I eat vegetables and fish. It’s really boring.” He then continues on to tell Degeneres that he has given up dairy and meat.

When asked why he decided to make these dietary choices, Ford replied with, “I just decided I was tired of eating meat…and I know it’s not really good for the planet…and it’s not really good for me.”

Fans of Ford may not be surprised by this personal decision of his, especially if they’re aware of his passion for the environment. In fact, Ford spoke to the UN in 2019 on the importance of caring for our planet.

Along with Ford’s recent dietary changes, he also manages to stay active on a daily basis.

“There’s a picture of you on a bike…look at your arms.” Degeneres reveals a picture to her audience of Ford riding a bike, to which she says, “What’s happening here? Do you work out like crazy?”

“No, I don’t work out like crazy. I work out a bit. I mean I ride bikes and I play tennis,” says Ford.

The biggest culprits, experts say — accounting for two-thirds of these infections — are medical devices like catheters, stents, heart valves and pacemakers, whose surfaces often become covered with harmful bacterial films. But a novel surface treatment developed by a UCLA-led team of scientists could help improve the safety of these devices and ease the economic burden on the health care system.

The new approach, tested in both laboratory and clinical settings, involves depositing a thin layer of what is known as zwitterionic material on the surface of a device and permanently binding that layer to the underlying substrate using ultraviolet light irradiation. The resulting barrier prevents bacteria and other potentially harmful organic materials from adhering to the surface and causing infection.

The team’s findings are published May 19 in the journal Advanced Materials.

In the laboratory, researchers applied the surface treatment to several commonly used medical device materials, then tested the modified materials’ resistance to various types of bacteria, fungi and proteins. They found that the treatment reduced biofilm growth by more than 80% — and in some cases up 93%, depending on the microbial strain.

“The modified surfaces exhibited robust resistance against microorganisms and proteins, which is precisely what we sought to achieve,” said Richard Kaner, UCLA’s Dr. Myung Ki Hong Professor of Materials Innovation and senior author of the research. “The surfaces greatly reduced or even prevented biofilm formation.

“And our early clinical results have been outstanding,” Kaner added.

The clinical research involved 16 long-term urinary catheter users who switched to silicone catheters with the new zwitterionic surface treatment. This modified catheter is the first product made by a company Kaner founded out of his lab, called SILQ Technologies Corp., and has been cleared for use in patients by the Food and Drug Administration.

Ten of the patients described their urinary tract condition using the surface-treated catheter as “much better” or “very much better,” and 13 chose to continue using the new catheter over conventional latex and silicone options after the study period ended.

“One patient came to UCLA a few weeks ago to thank us for changing her life — something that, as a materials scientist, I never thought was possible,” Kaner said. “Her previous catheters would become blocked after four days or so. She was in pain and needed repeated medical procedures to replace them. With our surface treatment, she now comes in every three weeks, and her catheters work perfectly without encrustation or occlusion — a common occurrence with her previous ones.”

Such catheter-related urinary tract problems are illustrative of the issues plaguing other medical devices, which, once inserted or implanted, can become breeding grounds for bacteria and harmful biofilm growth, said Kaner, a member of the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA who is also a distinguished professor of chemistry and biochemistry, and of materials science and engineering. The pathogenic cells pumped out by these highly resilient biofilms then cause recurring infections in the body.

In response, medical staff routinely give strong antibiotics to patients using these devices, a short-term fix that poses a longer-term risk of creating life-threatening, antibiotic-resistant “superbug” infections. The more widely and frequently antibiotics are prescribed, Kaner said, the more likely bacteria are to develop resistance to them. A landmark 2014 report by the World Health Organization recognized this antibiotic overuse as an imminent public health threat, with officials calling for an aggressive response to prevent “a post-antibiotic era in which common infections and minor injuries which have been treatable for decades can once again kill.”

“The beauty of this technology,” Kaner said, “is that it can prevent or minimize the growth of biofilm without the use of antibiotics. It protects patients using medical devices — and therefore protects all of us — against microbial resistance and the proliferation of superbugs.”

The surface treatment’s zwitterion polymers are known to be extremely biocompatible, and they absorb water very tightly, forming a thin hydration barrier that prevents bacteria, fungi and other organic materials from adhering to surfaces, Kaner said. And, he noted, the technology is highly effective, non-toxic and relatively low in cost compared with other current surface treatments for medical devices, like antibiotic- or silver-infused coatings.

Beyond its use in medical devices, the surface treatment technique could have non-medical applications, Kaner said, potentially extending the lifetimes of water-treatment devices and improving lithium-ion battery performance.

Funding sources for the study included the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, SILQ Technologies Corp. and the UCLA Sustainability Grand Challenge.

Co-lead authors of the study are Brian McVerry, Alex Polasko and Ethan Rao. McVerry helped develop this and other surface treatments during his UCLA doctoral research with Kaner and co-founded SILQ Technologies Corp., where is he now chief technology officer. Rao, director of research and development at SILQ, and study co-author Na He, a process engineer at SILQ, have conducted UCLA research in Kaner’s laboratory.

Other co-authors are the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering’s Shaily Mahendra, a professor of civil and environmental engineering, and Dino Di Carlo, a professor of bioengineering and of mechanical and aerospace engineering; Amir Sheikhi, an assistant professor of chemical and biomedical engineering at Penn State University; and Ali Khademhosseini, CEO of the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation and formerly a professor of bioengineering, chemical and biomolecular engineering, and radiological sciences at UCLA.

Taraji P. Henson is using her platform to fight for abortion rights. The actress has teamed up with Planned Parenthood to release a new video that breaks down facts surrounding the ever-evolving debate.

“Let’s say you know someone who doesn’t see this as a fundamental right. Someone who’s not sure how they feel about abortion,” said Henson in the video titled “How to Talk About Abortion.” “Just hit ’em with some facts. Like 80 percent of people want abortion to be safe and to be legal… so why does a small group of loud, judgy people get to decide what we do with our damn bodies?”

She also took a moment to expand on those facts.

Thank you, @tarajiphensonfor joining us in this fight! We all deserve to make our own decisions about our bodies. It’s time to get loud, share our stories, and say “Bans Off Our Bodies.”

“If you’re with your girlfriends, there’s a good chance that one of ya’ll has had an abortion. And we gotta talk about this,” Henson continued. “There’s way too much shame and stigma around abortion and I’m over it. Real facts. We all deserve to own our own bodies and decide the course of our own lives.”

Just shy of news that infamous Supreme Court case, Roe v. Wade, could potentially be overturned, organizations like Planned Parenthood continue the fight for the right for women’s rights.

“The court is prepared to end the constitutional right to abortion and meanwhile, anti-abortion groups and politicians are gearing up for a nationwide ban,” Planned Parenthood said via Twitter.

Vice President Kamala Harris also previously chimed in on the news and emphasized that men should not have a say on what a woman does with her body.

“It has never been more clear which party wants to lead us forward and which party wants to push us back,” she said. “Those Republicans leaders who are trying the weaponise the use of the law against women, well we say, how dare they. Actor Morgan Freeman and the late Senator John McCain are among hundreds of Americans banned from Russia, according to a “black list” that was released on Saturday from the nation’s foreign ministry.

The list also includes President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as a number of prominent politicians such as New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and an array of business executives, journalists, and other Hollywood stars also made the cut.

Russia’s foreign ministry released the updated list of 963 individuals in response to U.S. sanctions and its support for Ukraine. The ministry said that each of the people listed have worked to incite “Russophobia” and are no longer welcome in the country.

“In the context of response to the constantly imposed anti-Russian sanctions by the United States and in connection with incoming requests about the personal composition of our national ‘stop list’, the Russian Foreign Ministry publishes a list of American citizens who are permanently banned from entering the Russian Federation,” the ministry said in a statement.

“Russia does not seek confrontation and is open to honest, mutually respectful dialogue, separating the American people, who are always respected by us, from the U.S. authorities, who incite Russophobia, and those who serve them. It is these people who are included in the Russian ‘black list,” it added.

Freeman was likely included in the list, along with actor Rob Reiner, for their work to support The Committee to Investigate Russia, a nonprofit focused on deterring Russian interference in U.S. elections. The group was launched in 2017, with Reiner on the advisory board, while Freeman did a voiceover for a video it released.

Russia previously criticized the group by claiming that the two actors “easily succumb to becoming victims of emotional strain with no real information about the real state of things.”

McCain, who died in 2018, was one of the the fiercest Republican critics of Russia in the Senate, and had long advocated for the U.S. to help Ukraine and other nearby nations protect themselves from a Russian attack. Russia also included other deceased lawmakers on its list, including Nevada Democrat Harry Reid and Utah Republican Orrin Hatch.

One name that was notably absent from the list was Donald Trump. The former president was known for praising Russian President Vladimir Putin during his time in office, as well as criticizing investigations into the Kremlin’s interference in American politics.

Biden’s former White House press secretary Jen Psaki made light of the situation and sarcastically wrote on Twitter: “I guess we will have to cancel our August family trip to Moscow…”
