As the filmmaking team for “The Woman King” travels to Brazil to promote the historical epic, Viola Davis and her husband and producing partner Julius Tennon are celebrating the success of the film’s no. 1 debut at the box office, grossing $19 million domestically.

	The film had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 10, followed by opening in theaters one week later. It’s one of the rare films where critics and general audiences given it a similarly positive reception, with a 95% critics score and 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. It even pulled off an “A+” Cinema Score.

	Davis emphasizes that the story of “The Woman King” can connect to all audiences, not only Black women.

	“There was a sense that our stories aren’t universal and can’t reach the white man or woman or the Hispanic man or woman,” Davis tells Variety. “I feel human stories are for everyone, not just Black consumption.”

	Just today, Davis says, a white woman asked her, “Does it surprise you that your story could reach me as a white woman?”

	“No,” she says she answered. “I know my story can reach you as your story can reach me. The only one it surprises is you.”

	Davis emerges as an action star in a film that blends large-scale historical epics like “Braveheart” (1995) and “Gladiator” (2001), both Oscar winners for best picture. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the scale and brevity of the movie is a seamless effort, boasting noteworthy performances, along with an impressive team of artisans, including composer Terence Blanchard and cinematographer Polly Morgan. In the film, Davis plays Nanisca, a brave warrior and a General of the Agojie, the all-female warrior unit that protected the West African kingdom during the 17th to 19th centuries.

	Davis is an Oscar-winner for “Fences” (2016) and is the most nominated Black actress with four noms. For comparison, there have been 14 instances of Black women nominated for best actress, with one winner, Halle Berry (for 2001’s “Monster’s Ball”). Meryl Streep has more nominations in the category, with 17, with two statuettes.

	The film becomes a showcase for the next generation of Black women in Hollywood, notably Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim and Jayme Lawson. “It’s always about the next generation, and that’s our job in this lifetime. It’s about running your leg of the race and passing the baton onto the great runner. But you have to be brave enough to run the race. You have to be brave enough to do both original content that will move the narrative,” says Davis.

 “Let’s be clear, Hollywood is about commerce,” says Tennon, who also has a role in the film as Moru. “If we’re going to continue to do these kinds of movies, they need to make money. We understand that.”

	How does it feel to see a film that you poured your heart and soul into do so well at the box office?

	Viola Davis: It feels like I never doubted that “The Woman King” would land because it landed with me. It landed with Gina. It landed with Julius. It’s an undeniable, powerful story. The way we see numbers today is not the way we see the numbers. I think people have a tendency to say, we only represent a certain percentage of the box office. We know Black women. We know they’re going to bring people they work with, spouses and families, and come back five or six times during the weekend. We are in an industry that doesn’t see the power Black women have at the global box office.

	Julius Tennon: There’s always a bit of fear of the unknown. Hollywood loves to have a formula in the way they market ideas. There’s nothing wrong with that but when you’re doing a film like this, we know that people of color, particularly Black people, are hungry for this kind of content. And when you have Viola have the presence, like the one she’s had over these years, we know how to reach these audiences that studios aren’t tracking.

	Allies and Black celebrities like Kerry Washington, Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade, and Octavia Spencer bought out movie theaters in communities that may have trouble buying tickets to see the movie. Is that something you would like to see more of moving forward?

	Davis: I would because in order to move the narrative forward in terms of diversity and inclusion, it’s going to take all of us doing it together. This is not a lone wolf kind of fight. When you’re shifting cultural narratives, then it takes people coming together to shift it. Alone, you are operating in a vacuum.

	Tennon: What we understand is what the studio wants, and they want movies to perform. Hollywood is about commerce and if we’re going to be able to continue to do these kinds of movies, they have to make money. Let’s just be clear about that, and we understand that. We need to continue to support each other.

	With the success of the film, are there any discussions about a sequel, especially given the post-credits sequence with Sheila Atim?

	Tennon: Well, you know, it feels like we could [do a sequel]. We haven’t had any discussions about it as of yet.

	Are you open to more if the studio wants more?

	Davis: I’m open to more but let me tell you. I already was the oldest warrior on the battlefield. If we do a sequel, I’m hoping I still have teeth [laughs], but yes, I’m totally open to it. Wide open. Always.

	#BoycottWomanKing popped up over the weekend with people who felt it doesn’t address the Dahomey Kingdom’s involvement in slavery. We don’t see that type of complaint when a Christopher Columbus movie is released that doesn’t cover cultural genocide – what do you have to say to those that feel it leaves out those parts of history?

	Davis: First of all, I agree with Gina Prince-Bythewood’s saying is you’re not going to win an argument on Twitter. We entered the story where the kingdom was in flux, at a crossroads. They were looking to find some way to keep their civilization and kingdom alive. It wasn’t until the late 1800s that they were decimated. Most of the story is fictionalized. It has to be.

	Tennon: We are now what we call “edu-tainment.” It’s history but we have to take license. We have to entertain people. If we just told a history lesson, which we very well could have, that would be a documentary. Unfortunately, people wouldn’t be in the theaters doing the same thing we saw this weekend. We didn’t want to shy away from the truth. The history is massive and there are truths on that that are there. If people want to learn more, they can investigate more.

	Davis: Part of the story that hit me as an artist was these women were unwanted. They were recruited between the ages of eight and 14. They were the women who were not considered desirable. No one wanted to marry them. They were unruly. They were recruited by the King to fight for the kingdom of Dahomey. They were not allowed to marry or have children. The ones who refused the call were beheaded. That’s also a part of the story. People really are being emotionally shifted. I saw a TikTok video today of women in a bathroom of an AMC theater, and I don’t think they knew each other. They were all chanting and ruminating. That cannot be quantified by words.

	Are you two interested in working together again as actors, such as a rom-com or something that will showcase the chemistry you two share as artists?

	Tennon: If the right thing came along, we would. We always talk about doing something on stage because we’re both stage actors, and it’s more visceral on stage.

	Davis: Our lives are a rom-com [laughs]. It’s really fun. We tell everybody when we come into the room, we bring the fun.

Disclosure

In recent decades, Brazilian demography has undergone important movements that have brought new challenges. The increase in life expectancy, which went from 45 years in the 40s to 76 years in 2020, according to the IBGE, has given more longevity and pressured social security, for example.

On the other hand, in addition to a decrease in birth rates, it has been increasingly common for women to have children at a little older age. According to the Civil Registry Statistics of 2019, also from the IBGE, between 2008 and 2018 the number of mothers over 30 years old increased.

In the period, the number of people who were mothers between 30 and 34 grew by 26%; 56% between 35 and 39 years old and 36% between 40 and 44 years old. The trend of having children at a more mature age is clear, as the same survey shows a drop in the number of women who had children between the ages of 25 and 29 (a drop of 8%); 20 and 24 years old (-17%) and 15 and 19 years old (-26%).

The new formats of Brazilian society ended up creating specific demands. The combined movement of an aging population and women having children later created the so-called “sandwich generation”, for example. The term was conceived by the social worker Dorothy A. Miller, in 1981, and has been gaining popularity in Brazil.

Márcia Sena, a specialist in quality of life for the elderly and founder and CEO of Senior Concierge, a company that practices an integrated care model to support people over 60 years of age, points out that the concept defines adults who are compressed by the demands of children – usually children and teenagers – and parents – usually over 70 years old.

“This is a reality that has fit into the panorama of many women, who make up the majority of the sandwich generation. They have children who have reached an age where they need them to have a lot of energy to help them in different areas and at the same time their parents are elderly and they also need support,” she explains.

The pains of the sandwich generation

Sena argues that the sandwich generation mainly represents women who are between 35 and 60 years old (with a greater predominance between 40 and 55 years old). As Brazilians are retiring later, people in this demographic still suffer from daily pressures at work.

The specialist makes a point of remembering that the “sandwiched” go through other issues that affect women, such as machismo, social pressures that come from gender stereotypes, racism (in the case of black women), paternal abandonment and more.

“With all this weight on their backs, it is very common for these women to feel guilty for not ‘taking care of’ everything. So they blame themselves for not having time to take care of elderly parents, they feel that they should spend more time with their children, they feel that their professional life is stagnant and that their affective life is lukewarm”.

Going through all these conditions, which mainly affect women’s emotions, the sandwich generation presents problems such as:

Insomnia;

Stress;

Obesity;

Depression;

Irritability;

exhaustion;

Lack of motivation;

Memory problems;

Affective problems;

Lack of concentration;

Low immunity;

Anxiety;

Low productivity at work (caused by all of the above symptoms).

Improving the quality of life of the sandwich generation

Sena began to study and specialize in the concept of the sandwich generation because she herself had the experience of being a sandwich. A few years ago, she found herself in the role of taking care of the family (her husband and 4 children), taking care of responsibilities at work and also taking care of parents who were in need of special care.

The specialist believes that the person who worries about so many external things that he ends up leaving his own personality – including hobbies, leisure activities and interpersonal relationships – in the background, ends up having serious quality of life problems.

“Sandwich generation women need the same care and protection that they offer their children and aging parents. It is essential that they perceive themselves as people who are subject to all these pressures and receive support from family members, companions, companions and friends”, she defends.

The CEO of Senior Concierge lists practical actions that can be taken by sandwiches:

To talk: Once you recognize the problem, you need to be open to the experience of exposing it to others. Therefore, it is essential to talk about everyday challenges even with children, especially if they are already in their teens and early adulthood, and elderly parents. Having a frank conversation can generate empathy and bring to the surface all the emotions that end up neglected in everyday life.

Insomnia;

Stress;

Obesity;

Depression;

Irritability;

exhaustion;

Lack of motivation;

Memory problems;

Affective problems;

Lack of concentration;

Low immunity;

Anxiety;

To talk: Once you recognize the problem, you need to be open to the experience of exposing it to others. Therefore, it is essential to talk about everyday challenges even with children, especially if they are already in their teens and early adulthood, and elderly parents. Having a frank conversation can generate empathy and bring to the surface all the emotions that end up neglected in everyday life. If necessary, seek professional help from a psychologist or psychiatrist;

be prioritized: it is essential that the woman who is suffering from the burden of having to take care of parents and children knows how to assess what is really important. The feeling of insufficiency is very normal for them, as it is common for us not to be able to deal with all the demands that contemporary life presents us with. In this case, it is very important to know how to evaluate your own values and ask yourself what is really important.
The seismic focus was located at a depth of 10 kilometers and the epicenter was located 42 kilometers north-northwest of La Placita de Morelos, Michoacán.

The earthquake was also felt strongly in Mexico City.
earthquake damage

The Mexican government issued a damage report related to the earthquake recorded on Monday. The report indicates that a man in the state of Colima died due to circumstances related to the tremor, while another person was injured in Michoacán. In addition, in Colima there was structural damage to homes and failures in the electrical service.

According to the Government, the earthquake had more than 200 aftershocks and was felt by approximately 48 million people in the country.

On the other hand, Civil Protection reported that the Secretary of the Navy issued two tsunami warning bulletins, but “a significant increase in sea level is not expected.”

“At the moment, detailed evaluations of the structural conditions in homes, buildings and infrastructure are being carried out by engineers and technical teams from the most affected entities: Michoacán and Colima. Initially, medium and severe damages are recorded, without quantifying”, details the Government text.

Regarding the information from the Federal Electricity Commission, it highlights that there were “2 million affected users, although the service was restored to 90% before 3:00 p.m. local time.

On the other hand, the report indicates that at least two hospitals suffered structural damage in the state of Michoacán. According to the Government, several federal entities carry out tours of the areas near the town of Coalcomán, the epicenter of the tremor.

“The National Emergency Committee declared itself in permanent session to monitor the seismic activity in the region and conclude the damage and needs assessment in the affected localities,” the report concludes.

CNN host in Mexico feels the 7.6 tremor in the air 1:14

September 19, a tragic date

It is the anniversary of the two earthquakes that hit Mexico City and other locations hard in 1985 and 2017.

Before this Monday there was a national earthquake drill, which included the activation of the seismic alert in the country’s capital, only as part of the exercise. Then the movement occurred, just as it did in 2017.

The tremors that have marked Mexico in September 0:51

The reaction of the authorities after the earthquake

In 2017, shortly after noon Morelos, Puebla, Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Guerrero and Oaxaca felt an earthquake of magnitude 7.1. It happened after another earthquake of great intensity was registered that same month, on September 7, with a magnitude of 8.1. And in 1985, one of the most devastating earthquakes for Mexico occurred, leaving some 10,000 dead.

The head of the Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, said on her Twitter account that so far no damage has been reported in the country’s capital and reported that five condors fly over the streets of the city. For his part, the secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City, Omar García Harfuch, said that so far there had been “no relevant damage.”

Later, at a press conference, Sheinbaum said that they were working on the report of the drill that took place almost an hour before in commemoration of the tragic earthquakes of 1985 and 2017: “We were working on the report of the earthquake drill minutes before that the alert sounded,” said the head of the Government of Mexico City.

“I managed to talk to the president. We call you immediately. There is no major damage in the city, and we will inform you later if there is major material damage, ”he reported.

At least one dead after earthquake in Mexico and tsunami alert issued 1:53

“It was a difficult situation because we already know that we have had difficult earthquakes and to have an earthquake on this day, obviously people are afraid,” Sheinbaum added.

The impact and trauma left by previous tremors in the country cause nervous breakdowns in the inhabitants as soon as the alarms sound. Civil Protection personnel located in the main square of Mexico City informed the local media Milenio TV that they have treated at least 50 people who presented symptoms of nervous breakdown after the earthquake on Monday.

Panic due to earthquake during commemoration of September 19, 2017 1:30

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, gave the preliminary report of the National Seismological from the courtyard of the National Palace and said: “We wish with all our hearts that nothing serious has happened.”

Hugh Grant reflected the thoughts of the nation as he shared his reaction to seeing Queen Elizabeth II’s pony Emma waiting for her funeral procession to drive past at Windsor Castle.

Alongside the monarch’s remaining two corgis, the loyal animals were lined up to observe their owner’s coffin being carried to St George’s Chapel, bringing a tear to many a viewer’s eye.

Footage showed puppies Muick and Sandy, who were a ‘constant joy’ for the late monarch during the pandemic, patiently awaiting outside.

Meanwhile, her faithful fell pony Emma was also seen standing on her own as the carriage passed by.

It was this image that got to actor Hugh, who took to Twitter to share his emotion.

‘Emma. Sob,’ he simply put, inserting a horse emoji into the tweet so it would be obvious as to who he was referring.

Others were equally moved by Emma, especially as they pointed out that the late sovereign’s scarf – which she so often wore while out riding – was laid across her saddle.

As one social media shared a photo of the personal touch and called it ‘quite something’, another replied: ‘You have just totally finished me off with the headscarf.’

After their lifelong owner’s death, the dogs will now be looked after by her son, Prince Andrew, who gifted them to her originally after the death of her husband and his father, the Duke of Edinburgh.

Emma’s fate is as yet unknown, but royal biographer Claudia Joseph told The Post that the horses would most likely also be staying within the family.

She said: ‘It is likely that the queen’s daughter, Princess Anne, and [Anne’s] daughter, Zara, who were both Olympic equestrians and well-known horse lovers, are likely to be involved in what happens next to the queen’s animals.’

Why did Joe Biden have to wait to get in? And why does the queen’s youngest grandson have medals? The state funeral of Elizabeth II was followed by millions of people who did not miss some curious details. Here are the facts behind some of the issues raised on social media

Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral was planned down to the smallest detail: from who received the invitation to the order in which the 2,000 guests would enter (and where they would be seated) at the imposing Westminster Abbey, through to the choice of flowers, music and even the accessories – all in tune so that nothing escapes the protocol.

And it was precisely the details that did not escape the watchful eye of the millions of people who followed the ceremony in person, on television or on social media. Even a spider was the subject of Twitter:

Joe Biden arrived late and had to wait to be seated

If the British are known for their punctuality, the Americans… not really. Proof of this was the delay of Joe Biden, which ended up earning him a place further back than what was expected.

According to The Guardian, the US president and the first lady chose to drive to Westminster Abbey in their own car (instead of the bus where the other guests followed) for safety reasons, but were stuck in traffic from London. And, on arrival, rather than being immediately ushered to their seats, the couple had to be kindly told they would need to stand and wait while a procession of medals went ahead of them. Joe and Jill Biden were seated ten minutes later than expected – and 14 rows behind.

The President of the United States sat behind Andrzej Duda, President of Poland, and ahead of Petr Fiala, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. Sitting to her husband’s left, Jill Biden sat next to Ignazio Cassis, the president of Switzerland. In the front row of the American couple was Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

Why does everyone seem to have medals?

“Why does the Queen’s youngest grandson wear medals at just 14?” “What about Mike Tindall, who was never in the military?” These were some of the questions that emerged on social media as the royal family entered the Abbey for the ceremony. And there is an explanation: from the outset, the medals in question are not military but civilian.

Prince James, Viscount Severn, is the son of Prince Edward – the Queen’s fourth child – and Princess Sofia Rhys-Jones. He wore a medal for the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II, celebrated in 2012, and another for the Platinum Jubilee, which was marked this year. In addition to the young prince, all the Queen’s children and grandchildren received a commemorative medal.

Mike Tindall, the former rugby player who is married to Princess Anne’s daughter, was wearing the MBE Merit Medal (for “Member of the British Empire”), awarded for his contribution to the sport, as well as medals for Diamond and Platinum Jubilees of the late Queen.

The symbolism of accessories

If in recent years differences have marked the relationship between Kate and Meghan, this Monday the sisters-in-law were in tune when it comes to choosing accessories. In fact, all the women of the Royal Family (with the exception of Princess Anne) who attended the Queen’s funeral arrived at Westminster Abbey dressed according to protocol: black dress, traditional black hats or ‘mourning veils’. According to British media, all royal women must also wear “mourning jewelry”, usually pearls, as they are believed to symbolize tears of sadness.

The Princess of Wales wore one of the necklaces from Queen Elizabeth II’s private jewelry collection. The necklace, made up of four rows of pearls and a clasp, was often worn by the monarch in the late 1980s. Pearl and diamond earrings also belonged to Elizabeth II. The Duchess of Sussex wore a pair of pearl earrings that the Queen gave her a few years ago.

Charlotte, daughter of Kate and William, wore a diamond horseshoe brooch as a symbol of the queen’s passion for horses.

the mystery of paper

Jewels and guests aside, attention turned to a piece of paper: at the beginning of the ceremony, a bishop shuffled a pile of papers in his hands, accidentally dropping one of them. The white paper flew from her hand to the floor of Westminster Abbey, landing visibly near the queen’s urn.

Soon after the fall, social media posts about the piece of paper multiplied. The incident quickly captured the public’s imagination – who even created a Twitter account identified as @FuneralPaper, with the name “#Papergate” and a biography that reads: “Will I pick it up or not? What’s in my paper? So many questions, but few answers.”

After the state funeral, the Queen’s two corgis, Sandy and Muick, were brought out into the street by an official of the Royal Household to watch the arrival of Elizabeth II’s urn at Windsor Castle. A symbolic moment that once again recalls the importance of animals to the queen.

Last week it was made public that Prince Andrew will be the next caretaker for the Queen’s dogs, who had a fondness for this breed.

The main changes therefore concern the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the United Arab Emirates, areas where guests with full vaccination will no longer have to undergo the pre-boarding test. In addition, unvaccinated guests will be able to board in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, with a negative pre-boarding antigen test.

Below is the detail of the requirements required in each destination.

Mediterranean and Caribbean
On Mediterranean cruises (excluding Greece) and the Caribbean, with a duration of less than 14 nights, guests who have completed the vaccination against Covid-19 (two doses + booster; one dose J&J + booster; two doses + healing) will be able to freely board the ships without having to undergo to any pre-boarding test. Even people not vaccinated or cured from Covid-19 (without two doses) will be able to go on holiday with Costa in these destinations, simply by showing at boarding the official certification of the negative result of an antigenic swab (or even molecular swab Rt-Pcr , at the guest’s choice) performed within 48 hours of boarding time.

Cruises calling in Greece will continue to be available only to fully vaccinated, partially vaccinated and cured guests (two doses + booster; J&J + booster; two doses + healing; one dose + healing; healing only), who have undergone a negative antigen test within 48 hours of boarding.

On cruises that will visit the Morocco, guests without full vaccination will be required to carry out an additional Rt-Pcr molecular test on board 48 hours before entering the country. Relative to the Caribbean, the landing of unvaccinated guests a Barbados, St. Vincent e St. Martin it will be allowed only after a negative result of an antigen test performed 24 or 48 hours before the arrival of the ship. These tests, as well as those planned before entering Morocco, can be carried out on board Costa ships at a special price.

United Arab Emirates
Cruises to the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar are currently only available for guests who have completed their vaccination (two doses + booster; one J&J dose + booster; two doses + healing), but without the need for any pre-boarding tests .

Around the world and transatlantic
Around the world *, transatlantic cruises, and in general all cruises lasting more than 14 nights, require guests to be fully vaccinated and carry out a negative antigen test within 48 hours of boarding time. Furthermore, the use of the mask on board will be mandatory in public areas during the first seven days of the cruise, while in the other destinations (Mediterranean, Caribbean, United Arab Emirates) the use of the mask is simply recommended.

In all the aforementioned destinations, when applicable, the full vaccination requirement applies only to guests from 12 years of age (except on Around the world and transatlantic, where starting from 18 years), while that of the swab from 5 years of age of age.

The Costa protocols comply with the measures currently in force in the destinations visited by the company’s ships. In the event that local authorities implement new measures in the future, the Costa protocols will adapt accordingly. In this case, the company will promptly inform its guests. To stay up to date on the health protocols of Costa ships and to receive further information about it, you can consult the company’s website.

One of Seth Rogen’s most raunchy movies is now available to stream for free. The first R-rated CG movie Sausage Party is available on Amazon Prime Video for free with ads and on Freevee. According to Flix Patrol, the film is already ranked near #5 on Freevee’s top 10 charts of the week.

Seth Rogen’s 2016 raunchy comedy was directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, who also worked on Universal Pictures’ The Adams Family films. The comedy was considered a direct parody of Disney and Pixar animated projects. It follows an anthropomorphic sausage who discovers what happens when groceries are purchased at the grocery store.

In addition to Seth Rogen, the voice cast includes Michael Cera as a deformed sausage named Barry, Kristen Wiig as a hot dog bug named Brenda, Edward Norton as a neurotic bagel named Sammy, and many more. The film is the first 3D computer-animated feature to be rated R by the Motion Pictures Association of America. The Canadian-based studio Nitrogen Studios handled animation for the project.

Frank and Brenda in Sausage Party (2016)

Following the film’s release, anonymous comments regarding the poor conditions of the animators began surfacing online. An article from Cartoon Brew mentioned allegations that the animators at Nitrogen Studios were forced to work overtime by co-director Greg Tiernan without any extra pay. The article painted an ugly picture of the Seth Rogen-led animated comedy and helped to lead one of the production companies behind the project, Annapurna, to step in to ensure overtime rates were paid.

Sources close to the situation claimed that in addition to animators not being paid for overtime, “unfair pressure tactics” were “used against the [animation] team.” Some of the tactics included intimidation, “utilizing fear tactics that demotivate and cause distress,” and “implying that other departments were also working overtime.” Nitrogen later was said to have responded to an open letter regarding the unfair tactics imposed on the animators, calling for signatories for anyone wanting to remove their names. Despite the controversy, the Seth Rogen-led animated comedy grossed over $97 million at the box office.

Another controversial factoid regarding the film was that the film initially was rated NC-17 by the MPAA. After Seth Rogen submitted the film, the MPAA gave it the NC-17 rating due to the visibility of pubic hair during a food orgy scene. After the pubic hair was removed, the MPAA rated it R.

Reviewers of the Seth Rogen comedy praised it for its bold take on the animated genre. Richard Roeper called it “smart” and “funny as hell,” citing the film’s excessive profanity. The film currently sits at 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the critical consensus also referencing the excessive profanity and a “surprisingly thought-provoking storyline.”

Seth Rogen expressed interest in a sequel after the film’s theatrical release. During an interview with Fandango, Rogen discussed how the original ending of Sausage Party could’ve led to a potential follow-up. The original ending was shown to fans in attendance at South By Southwest and revealed the animated characters stepping through a portal that took them into our live-action real world.

Sausage Party (2017)

In the same interview, Seth Rogen also teased plans for creating more R-rated animated CG features. He mentioned that there was “no precedent” for the type of project before Sausage Party and hoped fan reaction would convince studios to create more like it. Despite its impressive first-weekend box office opening, the film never received a sequel.

Outside of Sausage Party, Seth Rogen has provided his voice for other projects. He’s currently in production of Mufasa: The Lion King, in which he will reprise his role as Pumbaa. Rogen also voiced the character Mantis in Dreamwork’s Kung-Fu Panda franchise.

While the Seth Rogen animated comedy didn’t receive a sequel, it received a video game tie-in. Rogen’s character Frank and Kristen Wiig’s Brenda appeared in the mobile fighting game Sausage Legend. The game was part of a limited series event that ran from March 6th through July 31st, 2017.

When discussing other projects in the Sausage Party world, Seth Rogen referenced the classic animated, live-action hybrid Who Framed Roger Rabbit? The actor stated he found the style of the film very exciting and that the film itself was one of his favorite movies. While the door on a Sausage Party 2 isn’t shut for good, it certainly seems unlikely it will get made at this point.
