Let’s not go overboard, if you weren’t already aware, the Halo series allows itself many liberties with respect to the scenario of the games (and books). To the point of offering a universe of its own, where we will find some known faces without having the same intrigues.
The story takes place when a group of Covenant attacks a rebel base on Madrigal, a desert planet very reminiscent of Tatooine (and which was briefly mentioned in Halo 3). Fortunately, the Silver Team, a team of Spartans commanded by the Master Chief, arrives and saves the day. First observation, the exposure of the characters during this introductory scene with the rebels is convincing. The tone is right, the acting works and we are pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rendering. Until the action begins, and there we remember that Paramount + does not necessarily have the same means as the HBO series and others. In this universe, the UNSC is ruthless, to the point of ordering the execution of civilians and controlling the rest of the galaxy with propaganda messages. It’s hard not to draw a parallel with Star Wars and the Empire. The Spartans here are formidable elite soldiers, trained from an early age and capable of turning the tide of a battle on their own. The difference with games is in their indoctrination. They are not asked to think, they are soulless machines, controlled by the UNSC and its totalitarian principles. It is in this context that the main plot of this first season begins, when the Master Chief discovers an unknown artifact (which we guess Forerunner) which sends him an electromagnetic shock, bringing back his memories from before his lobotomization and finally allowing him to act on his own.
We are more in a dramatic space opera where we witness the awakening of John
There are of course other known heads such as Dr. Halsey, Miranda Keyes or Cortana, again very freely inspired by the basic material. Also present are some newcomers such as Soren-066, a former Spartan who has become the leader of a space pirate hideout (and fond of churros, no kidding!), Kwan Ha, an ultra annoying side-kick character who monopolizes screen time, but also of a mysterious human empress who leads the Covenant, full of wickedness and grudge against human villains. Going back to the action scenes (or rather the action scene, in the singular), we didn’t see any after the first episode. The focus of the series is clearly elsewhere, at least for the episodes that have been made available to us. We are more in a dramatic space opera where we witness the awakening of John, his meeting with Cortana and his flashbacks on his training when he was younger. As for the question about the face of the Master Chief, yes, yes and again we see him without his helmet! To the point where we would like him to put it back on since the latter spends more time without than with it, even in completely incoherent situations such as in hostile zones. Obviously, Microsoft couldn’t have done it on PC because the service would be at a disadvantage compared to Steam and Origins. These latter services don’t charge players to play online, and we’re happy about that. Now all that needs to happen is for Microsoft to remove pricing so console gamers can play online.
How does the Xbox One app compare?
The most important thing about the app is the fact that users can stream Xbox One games to their PC. Simply connect the console to the PC via the app and watch the magic as any game currently playing on the console begins streaming to the PC.
This is great when you want to go out with your laptop for a while or if your living room TV is shared with other people in the house.
The problem here is that it’s not yet possible to stream games outside of your local network. This means going to your friend’s house a few blocks away hoping to show off the new streaming trick won’t work.
As for the app’s overall performance, we can’t complain. Although we must point out that a slow computer can experience difficulties, keep this in mind.

MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD Overview and Features
This new MSI Optix screen is high-end in more ways than one and relies on great versatility. It offers a generous diagonal of 32 inches in 16:9 and Ultra HD definition (3840×2160). Another good point: its refresh rate is high, especially for a 4K screen, since it goes up to 144 Hz. With the addition of very complete connectivity, Quantum Dot type backlighting, and a response time of 1ms, we are in front of a screen perfectly cut for video games, whether on PC or home consoles.
Construction, design: sober and futuristic at the same time
Easy to mount out of the box, thanks to a foot that attaches very easily to the back of the panel, the MSI Optix MP32 has a design that is as sober as it is efficient. At the front, we appreciate its wide foot, but not too wide, which holds the whole thing together perfectly. The weight is substantial (14kg) but the whole remains fixed and solid once installed on a desk. The construction is entirely in plastic, but it is of good quality and there is no doubt at any time of the resistance of the panel and the foot. On the latter, a slight regret comes from the lack of support to put on a helmet, as is sometimes the case on monitors dedicated to video games.
Still at the front, the MSI Optix MP32 benefits from a particularly thin frame on the sides and top and barely wider below. A very good slab occupancy rate, which highlights the image particularly well.
At the rear, the panel is a bit more “futuristic”, with slightly more aggressive features and, above all, a small strip of RGB lighting, which is controlled via the monitor’s OSD. We also benefit from a rather successful “striated” effect and the slightly coppery MSI logo, for a result again effective and rather sober.
This 32-inch model is also rather “mobile”, with a panel that pivots to the right and left up to 30°, an inclination ranging from -5° to +20° and the possibility of adjusting the height by 10 cm . On the other hand, it is impossible to switch it to “portrait” mode, which is logical given the large size of the slab.
On the connectivity side, the MSI Optix MP32 is a real champion. In terms of video outputs, you will be able to connect a PC and two consoles at the same time without worry, thanks to a DisplayPort 1.4a and two HDMI 2.1. It therefore supports 4K at 144 Hz without worry and you will enjoy optimal rendering on a PlayStation 5 and an Xbox Series X.
This model is also lined with USB ports with three on the side and 5 below (including a DisplayPort compatible USB-C port. We also appreciate the presence of a jack for headphones and a “microphone” input. Note that this screen does not have integrated speakers, which is unfortunate given its price category.
OSD: an ultra-efficient “joystick” navigation system
Like the Samsung Odyssey G9 or the Predator X35, the MSI Optix MP32 uses a small joystick on the back for accessing and navigating its OSD. An excellent choice that makes it very easy to modify the ton of settings available within this interface.
The options are indeed very numerous, almost too many, and we regret a general lack of explanation. Access to good colorimetric profiles is for example not empty, since it is necessary to activate the “Pro” section to discover the best image settings. But we will come back to that.
That being said, we must recognize the great flexibility of the system and the possibility of activating several options for improving the image, as well as the PIP/PBP (“Picture in Picture”/”Picture by Picture). The latter makes it possible to display two different sources at the same time, by placing either a thumbnail image within the main image, or by displaying the two images side by side. For example, you can have your PS5 game in a corner of the screen and your Windows 10 interface on the rest of the screen, or vice versa. The option is very convenient and works impeccably well. Its activation is also very simple thanks to this joystick system.
Image quality: after a few adjustments, it’s the foot
Well built and very practical to use, the MSI Optix MP32 must also offer high image quality, especially given its price. On this point, we must recognize that our first contact with the screen was complicated. It should indeed be specified that, by default, the few accessible colorimetric profiles offer a very vivid rendering, but with strawberry fidelity. Some profiles are offered via the “games” menu, only very classic: FPS, RPG, RTS, Race… and also a “user” mode which, by default, offers a relatively correct rendering, but far from what is expected of a screen at this price.

Remember that we are dealing with an IPS-type panel, which offers viewing angles of 178° and benefits from “Quantum Dot” technology, which is substantially identical to the QLED of Samsung or TCL TVs. This is a much more precise and efficient panel backlighting system, which will offer a higher peak light
The “RPG” profile, for example, is catastrophic in terms of color fidelity, raising the Delta E to 19 (while we aim for 3 or less for a result deemed satisfactory) and does not allow to exceed 720 :1 of contrast. Only the color temperature (balance between warm hues and cold hues) remains good, with 5476K.
With the “user” profile, it’s a little better, but far from being really satisfactory: the Delta E goes down to 6 (which is still high) and the contrast goes up to 930:1. We can say that we arrive at an acceptable rendering, but, there again, it is a disappointment compared to the high-end positioning of the product.
Fortunately, the “Pro” menu in the OSD, once activated, gives access to many new image settings, including the sRGB saver. Once activated, with the brightness set to maximum, it’s day and night: we get a Delta E of 2, a light peak (excluding HDR) of 410 cd/m2, a contrast ratio of 990:1 and a color temperature at 6473K.
The “sRGB” profile offers excellent colorimetry.
If these figures do not speak to you more than that, know that it allows you to have a bright and well contrasted image, with in addition a balanced and faithful color rendering. An ideal rendering for image editing or video editing, but also for gaming. You will thus benefit from all the artistic direction on your favorite AAA. Whether on PC or consoles, the rendering with the sRGB profile is really very good. The pleasure of enjoying a game in 4K, with very good sharpness, at more than 60 FPS if your configuration holds up, is in any case undeniable.
On the other hand, it is unfortunate that the “game” profiles that can be activated by default are so poorly calibrated. Note that it is possible to calibrate the screen with a probe, but this is not recommended, because you will then lose maximum brightness.

With its endless landscapes imbued with freedom, Petria evokes the southern United States. Unfortunately, this comparison turns out to be purely aesthetic and linguistic since the country’s youth are ready to risk their lives to flee the authoritarian regime of President Tyrak. This situation has worsened since a tragic “incident” in 1986, during which many political opponents lost their lives.
Ten years later, and as new presidential elections are about to take place, the situation seems more unstable and explosive than ever. Indeed, the “terrorist” small group of the Black Brigades continues to carry out violent actions in order to shake up the dictatorship in place.
While more and more young people try to leave Petria by all means, Road 96 invites us to embody a handful of them, on the path strewn with pitfalls which must lead them to freedom.
Politics is at the heart of the plot
We therefore begin the adventure in the shoes of a random character of whom we know nothing. And for good reason, the title of DigixArt does not dwell on those that we embody throughout this adventure of 8 to 10 hours, but only on our meetings. We therefore meet seven characters (including a policewoman, a geek, two robbers, etc.) whom we meet on various occasions and who are all more or less linked, sometimes without knowing it, by the events we are witnessing.
This risk-taking in the narration is to be welcomed. It is indeed quite rare that a studio decides to develop its narration only through its NPCs, completely assuming to ignore the characters that we control. Although it may seem quite confusing at the start of the game, this choice is quickly justified by focusing our attention on what we are witnessing and not on what we are.
Leaking Petria must be done multiple times.
With this bias to highlight the meetings more than the objective, the Montpellier studio embraces what makes the charm of narrative games, but takes the risk of leaving the profane of the genre on the side of the road. Thus, the pleasure of playing depends more than ever on everyone’s ability to let themselves be transported by a story that takes shape in front of us, more than with us. Whether we like the title scenario or not, of which we won’t reveal anything more at the risk of spoiling the discovery, it seems difficult not to adhere to the various central subjects that Road 96 deals with: politics, freedom, civil disobedience or revolt. The latter remain too rarely discussed in our media although eminently current.
The road to misfortune
The story is at the center of the game, but what is our objective? The title is composed of several chapters. In order to conclude them, we have to take our character beyond the border.
