“It’s a disaster, really…” On this April morning, in Blois in the Loir-et-Cher, rain lashed the distressed face of Sylvie Delahodde, head of the condominium trustee of this commercial area, as there are thousands in France. Inaugurated in 2017, the site has found its place between an automotive injector factory and a carpenter’s warehouse.
Its main building, made of sheet metal and concrete, housed a discount hypermarket for two years before giving way to a weight room, a franchised bakery, a household appliance store and a pet store. Next door, Courtepaille and KFC. In the center, a large paved parking lot with sixty-six diseased or dead shrubs.
Eight months earlier, at the same locations, there were sixty-six tall, vigorous trees, leafy enough to shade cars or protect Uber Eats delivery people from bad weather. “The area is not the most aesthetic, but with all these trees, it looked great”, assures Christophe Degruelle, president of the urban community of Blois.

Except that one afternoon in September 2021, without warning, all these trees were cut down. Cropped flush. It took less than three hours for a cohort of workers to overcome it. Onlookers and shop employees attended, terrified, the disastrous spectacle. “Between two cuts, a guy just assured us that it was to see the signs better from the road”, remembers a saleswoman. In an open letter addressed to the owner of the commercial area, Christophe Degruelle and the mayor of Blois, Marc Gricourt (PS), denounce “an unacceptable ecological massacre and practices that run counter to all the policies carried out in favor of the environment, biodiversity and the fight against global warming”. They require the new operator in the area, who has just bought this set, to replant everything identically, “in accordance with the building permit”.

In June 2020, at the end of the first confinement, the young woman, marked by the #metoo movement, discovered a first collage at the foot of the building where the couple lives, in the 15e district of Paris. Two days later, she accompanies some gluers and affixes her first message, borrowed from the author Virginie Despentes: “Privilege is having the choice to think about it or not. In the street, I cannot forget that I am a woman”, taken from his letter to a “white friend”.
Overcome deception syndrome
The desire is quickly imposed to dedicate a film to these young activists who stand up against the patriarchy. A film that assumes itself as feminist, militant and committed, giving no voice to any man. A cinema film and not a doc for TV, so that it “stay more in time”. This film, they conceive it as that of a woman and a man, her companion, Simon Depardon, 31 years old. It even engages the whole family since it owes a lot to the determination of their producer, Claudine Nougaret, who for twenty-five years has shared the life of photographer and documentary filmmaker Raymond Depardon, Simon’s father.
To carry out this project, the young couple had to overcome their own doubts. “The Deception Syndrome”for Marie Perennes, whose Feminist response is the first try behind the camera. In the wake of a path already started in the pre-pandemic era, the Paduan company has in fact on the one hand adopted an international sustainability certification rating for its own structures and on the other hand, as anticipated in the latest issue of Travel Quotidiano, it has closed an agreement with Dolomiti Energia to guarantee all its energy supplies coming exclusively from renewable sources.
Il Si Rating – Sustainability impact rating – it is specifically an index created by Arban innovative start-up based in Trento and joint-stock benefit company from 2021, based on internationally recognized instruments, such as Sasb Materiality Map (Sustainability accounting standards board), ISO certifications related to sustainability issues, industry best practices and European directives and regulations. At the same time it is also a strategic tool for analyzing, managing and communicating sustainability. With Si Rating, Th Resorts therefore obtained a rating of 70 out of 100 on the ESG criteria (Environmental, social, governance; level achieved Bronze). Not only that: the company has also just released its own first sustainability reportdeveloped on the basis of the international standards GRI, Global reporting initiative.

While a swarm of half-naked slaves busy themselves with service, a group of Roman notables, lasciviously reclining, go into ecstasies over the smoking entrails of a roast pig.
According to historical accounts and archaeological digs, the way the Romans fed themselves in ancient times was actually much more prosaic. Like us, ordinary mortals generally eat three meals a day: breakfast at sunrise, the lunch around noon, and cena, dinner, which gave rise – among the wealthiest – to banquets consisting of hot dishes.

To grab the food that the cooks have taken care to cut up, you use your fingers or a cochlear: a typical cutlery whose shape is reminiscent of a spoon. At the top, the bowl, slightly domed, is used to contain bites; at the bottom, a sharp pointed handle allows for pricking food and picking teeth. A few beautiful examples in silver, copper or pewter have been found in the Hoxne hoard, kept in the British Museum.
Nowadays, the object has disappeared from kitchens. During the meals and culinary workshops that she organizes around Arles, Mireille Chérubini, a cook passionate about ancient Roman gastronomy, offers her guests the opportunity to use reproductions of cochlear, shaped with a 3D printer.

Its use
On this spring evening, a little wind of experimental gastronomy is blowing through the alleys of the Jardins de la Fontaine, in Nîmes. On the sidelines of the Roman Days and its program of shows and historical re-enactments, the municipality of the ancient Gallo-Roman city has set up a large period banquet.
At nightfall, guided by the light of oil lamps, 150 curious gourmets put on togas and laurel wreaths before settling around a large table. On one side of the plate, a parchment details the different stages of this dinner inspired by the recipe repertoire of Apicius, a wealthy Roman cook at the end of the Iis century BC. On the other, a tin alloy cochlear will serve as the only cutlery.
